Playacar is a resort connected to the south of Playa del Carmen. Playacar is a private gated community and is divided into two sections. Playacar Phase 1 is the original Playacar development and is closest to downtown Playa del Carmen. Playacar Phase 2 is the more recent section and is beautifully landscaped around brick-lined boulevards.
Playacar has an 18 hole public golf course designed by Robert Von Hagge. Playacar Club de Golf is a challenging championship course carved out of the lush Mayan jungle. It features long narrow fairways and undulating greens that are protected by very large white sand bunkers. Playacar also has a lovely aviary, new shopping mall, bike paths, and more, all in a charming upscale community.
